Following the success story of Katharina Partyka from Cologne, the story now continues

Following the success story of Katharina Partyka from Cologne, the story is now moving on to Switzerland.

Doing something for the climate with old, broken jeans – is that possible? You bet! The idea is simple, but effective. Every pair of jeans that can be recycled saves up to two thirds of water and CO2. Provided they have a cotton content of 95 per cent. That was the reason why Katharina Partyka from Cologne launched the jeans recycling campaign in spring 2020.

Since then, 10,000 kilos of jeans have been collected, almost 60 million litres of water have been saved and almost 140 tonnes of CO2 have been emitted less – and that’s only regionally! If this initiative were rolled out nationwide, the effect would be many times greater. After all, it takes volume to ensure fibre-to-fibre recycling from jeans.

All the better that a sister campaign has now also been launched in Switzerland. The more jeans that are not burned or only downcycled for cleaning rags, the more we protect our climate and resources.
