Textile recycling
The textile industry is one of the most resource-intensive sectors in the world, but textile recycling opens up new opportunities for sustainable consumption and production. By recycling textiles, valuable raw materials can be recovered and the environmental impact significantly reduced. At AMUI®, we actively promote a sustainable circular economy in fashion and help to minimise textile waste through innovative recycling solutions.
Textile recycling - sustainability and circular economy in fashion
Mechanical recycling
Mechanical recycling involves shredding old textiles and processing them into new fibres. This method is often used for cotton and wool. The fibres obtained are usually mixed with new fibres to increase the quality, as the material often loses strength during mechanical recycling. This method is particularly resource-friendly as no chemical processes are required.
Chemical recycling
Chemical recycling uses chemical processes to break down fibres such as polyester or nylon into their original chemical building blocks. These basic materials can then be reused for new textile products. Chemical recycling also makes it possible to efficiently recycle mixed fabrics and heavily soiled textiles, thus contributing to more comprehensive recycling.
Downcycling
In downcycling, textiles are processed into products with a lower value, such as insulating materials or cleaning cloths. Although downcycling reduces waste, the materials are often not reused as clothing in this process, which does not completely close the loop.
Upcycling
Upcycling is a creative form of recycling in which used textiles are remodelled into new, high-quality products. This can be done by customising designs or combining different used textiles. Upcycling not only reduces waste, but also promotes the uniqueness and longevity of products.
Customised, circular business models for sustainable success
Resource-saving solutions for companies
Our customised business models help companies to use their resources more efficiently. This not only leads to a reduction in waste, but also to long-term protection of the environment. By implementing circular principles, we ensure that materials and resources are fed back into the production cycle instead of being wasted.
Transformation to a regenerative economy
The transition to a regenerative economy requires far-reaching changes. We support companies from the initial concept idea to the practical implementation of these models. In this way, we support them in increasing their competitiveness and at the same time taking a leading role in the area of sustainability.
